UPDATE ON MEDICAL COVERAGE RELATING TO CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)

For those members who participate in the Health and Welfare Fund, Health Plans will be waiving member cost-sharing for medically necessary COVID-19 testing and counseling. This applies to all medically necessary COVID-19 testing, treatment, counseling and vaccinations (should they become available) at in-network doctor’s offices, urgent care centers, telemedicine visits or emergency rooms without the requirement of prior authorization. Coverage for inpatient treatment will follow the benefits of the member’s plan.
Additionally, a dedicated Member Services phoneline (877-213-5225) is available for members with specific questions about the coronavirus and their benefits.

HEALTH AND WELFARE TRUST FUND OF IUOE LOCAL 877 & 70
As a participant in the Health and Welfare Trust Fund of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 877 and 70, you may be covered by various benefit plans. These plans are designed to provide coverage for all eligible participants and their eligible dependents.
The benefit package may include:
- A self-funded medical plan administered by Health Plans, Inc.
- A medical plan using the Harvard Pilgrim PPO & PreferredOne networks.
- Dental coverage through Blue Cross Blue Shield.
- Cash allowance vision benefit through the Trust Fund.
- Prescription Drugs are administered through Pharmacy Benefit Manager, OptumRx
- A hearing aid benefit is available through HearUSA.

- Health professionals stress that regular routine exams are important to help identify risk factors and problems before they become serious. As a way to encourage members and spouses to visit the doctor annually we will be waiving the annual in-network deductible for those who have their annual check-ups in the previous year!* Click the following link for more info: Waiver of deductible program
- Health Coaching:
- Trestle Tree is a new program being offered by the Health & Welfare Fund to help members manage their health. Whether you have a recent set back in your health for which you could use some guidance managing, want to start a fitness program, or need some extra encouragement in reaching your health and fitness goals Trestle Tree can help! - Telemedicine: Connect with a physician 24 hours a day/7 day a week using your smart phone, tablet, or computer for minor medical conditions. When registering on the Doctor On Demand application, be sure to choose “Health Plans Inc.” as your insurance carrier in order to have the appropriate co-pay applied.

The Health and Welfare Fund has a long-standing relationship with Modern Assistance Programs (MAP) for substance abuse and mental health assistance.
