HEALTH & WELFARE TRUST FUND

The Health and Welfare Fund offers a comprehensive healthcare package and other benefits to care for the members and families of Operating Engineers.

The Fund offers the following benefits:

  • A self-funded Medical Plan that is administered by Health Plans, Inc. The Fund does not purchase a plan from an insurer but develops the Plan and pays claims directly to providers. This Plan offers low co-pays and deductibles and no co-insurance on in-network claims.
  • Dental coverage is through Blue Cross Blue Shield Dental. Eligible dental services are covered at 75% and have a calendar year maximum of $3,000 per person.
  • Vision coverage of $300 per person in a calendar year. This may be used to cover an exam as well as glasses or contact lenses.
  • Hearing Aid benefit is offered through HearUSA. The Plan offers a $1,000 benefit per ear for hearing aids every 5 years.
  • A Fitness Benefit is offered as part of the medical plan. $400 per person annually is allowable for qualifying fitness related activities.
  • An Alternative Benefit is offered as part of the medical plan. $500 per person annually is allowable for qualifying alternative medicine. Covered services include massage, acupuncture, weight loss programs, and smoking cessation programs.

The following benefits may be available to you if they have been negotiated into your labor agreement:

  • Short Term Disability provides for 100% of base earnings (in conjunction with the State Paid Leave benefit) for a period of up to 26 weeks.
  • Long term disability is available after 26 weeks of disability and provides 60% of base earnings until a member is able to return to work or becomes eligible for social security benefits.
  • Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance policies are offered.

ANNUITY / 401K FUND

When our members finish working, they deserve a retirement they can count on. When you participate in the IUOE Local 877 Benefit Fund, you may be eligible for our Annuity / 401k Plan through the Principal Financial Group. With over 20 investment options managed by experienced professionals, your retirement earnings are in safe hands. Once you join the Fund, you will always be 100% vested — meaning you can keep your account even after leaving Covered Employment.

The IUOE Local 877 401(k) Plan is a tax-qualified defined contribution retirement plan. That means that based on IRS regulations, you are allowed to defer 1% to 100% of your salary up to an annual maximum (currently $19,500). Contributions are made on a pre-tax basis and all earnings from investments are tax-deferred. Contributions withheld from your paycheck are credited to your account and invested per your investment instructions. Our financial advisors offer an array of investment choices suited to your needs.

In addition, you may be eligible to participate in the IUOE Local 877 Annuity Plan as a bargained contribution under your Collective Bargaining Agreement

While we do our best to offer you the strongest retirement possible, your account will be subject to both market earnings and losses.

CENTRAL PENSION FUND

The Central Pension Fund (CPF) is a multi-employer pension fund providing reliable retirement, disability, and death benefits to IUOE members. Plan benefits are based on annual employer contributions — which means you don’t have to pay a dime to enjoy a stable retirement at the end of your career.
